About the Laboratory
The Calibration Laboratory of the State Institute for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection, v.v.i. (SÚJCHBO) is a specialized facility in the field of radon metrology in air. In 2024, the laboratory was designated as a CMI (Czech Metrology Institute) Designated Institute within the National Metrology System of the Czech Republic (NMS ČR).
The laboratory ensures the metrological traceability of radon measurements in air in accordance with ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and international metrological guidelines. Its activities focus on the realization and transfer of the unit of radon activity concentration (Bq/m³) for measuring instruments used in radiation protection and environmental monitoring.
Metrological Services and Activities
- Calibration of Radon Measuring Instruments in Air
- Calibration of radon measurement instruments within the range 100 Bq/m³ – 1,000,000 Bq/m³.
- Ensuring metrological traceability of radon measurements to international standards.
- Participation in International Metrological Comparisons
- The laboratory participates in key and supplementary comparisons organized by EURAMET.
Metrological Infrastructure and Laboratory Qualifications
✔ CMI Designated Institute Status – The laboratory is a part of the NMS ČR in the field of radon metrology.
✔ Accreditation According to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025 – Quality management system compliant with calibration laboratory requirements.
✔ Participation in Intercomparison Programs – Verification of measurement accuracy through international radon metrology comparisons.
