Detached Division for Supervision Support

Detached Division for Supervision Support (DDSS) has two workplaces located in Kamenná and Dolní Rožínka. Main activity in the both locations is focused on the provision of support to the supervision in radiological protection performed by inspectors of SONS, in particular, the inspectors of the Regional Centre Kamenná. The DDSS carries out local investigations connected with measurement and sampling for further analyses, on-site or in the workplaces with the occurrence of natural radionuclides. Within such investigations, the DDSS personnel also aim at monitoring of impact of old burdens after mining and processing/treatment of uranium ores in the Czech Republic. Besides, DDSS provides operation of the Air Monitoring Site and operation of the Early Detection Network.

Within its main activities, the DDSS performs the following accredited tests:

Measurement of surface contamination by radioactive agents emitting alpha particles
Continuous measurement of radon volume activity
Determination of volume activity of mixture of long-time radionuclides emitting alpha radiation of uranium-radium decay chain
Determination of concentration of latent energy of radon decay products
Measurement of photon dose equivalent, dose rate of external gamma radiation
Measurement of radon equivalent volume activity
