Large-Scale Testing
Large-Scale Testing Facility (LSTF) is focused on the performance of experimental works in the field of hazardous CBRN compounds using procedures and equipment close to real conditions. The LSTF meets all the biosafety and biosecurity criteria of bio-safety level 3, that allows for safe working/ handling with risk/ high-risk biological agents and toxins, as well as working with highly toxic chemicals, including chemical warfare agents. It is also permitted to handle short-time open sources of ionising radiation in LSTF. The LSTF can also be used for practical training for specialists within the training courses in the fields related to handling hazardous CBRN agents.
LSTF consists of airtight hall with the volume of 4500 m3 and 3 modular laboratories (volumes: 60, 80 and 120 m3) located inside the “containment”. The modular laboratories are variably modifiable in order to create larger experimental units. All laboratory modules are equipped with stand-alone filtration and ventilation systems. The above-mentioned dimensions make it possible to perform experiments/ testing with large-scaled systems or components. There are specific technological and hygienic facilities intended for the personnel carrying out the proper experimental activities, rooms for operators or trainees, e.g. hygienic loops, sanitary facilities, changing rooms and lecture hall.
